Ok, this is about prominent people who are known supporters of the sport which you play. For example, Ben Affleck is known to be a partisan supporter of the Yankees (hope I got that right here). Tony Blair once joked that he was an emerging basketballer back at school - he just never emerged.
Football has legions of supporters so I would not go into details. The late Pope John Paul II was a notable football supporter. In fact, he was a goalkeeper in his youth. When the Polish national team dropped a visit at the Holy See, he confessed to Jerzy Dudek (then first-choice goalkeeper at Liverpool FC as well as national goalie) that he eagerly followed the fortunes of Liverpool FC when they played in the Champions League.
Cricket has many high-profile supporters although I suppose our non-Commonwealth audiences would be unaware of that. Sir Elton John, for one, is mad about cricket. He once did a duet with Andrew Flintoff in which he observed that cricketers, like musicians, are both artists performing to entertain. How very true. A good observation, Sir Elton!
Hugh Grant is also another mad cricketer. He used to play cricket back in school, in fact. Back when he was going out with Jemina Khan, both of them were photographed at the first Test at Lord's in last year's Ashes.
To the girls, would it interest you to know that Jude Law has been photographed playing beach cricket with his son?
Making a quick single.
Bowling under the sun.
Lastly, I inadvertently chanced upon another keen amateur while visiting a cricket forum and he's the current world number 1 Roger Federer.
