We've been working on this tense a lot, recently (I even had a dream last night in which it figured heavily), but I have a question about where the stress falls in the words.
For example, in hubiera, I stress the e . But my teacher always sounds as if he's stressing the i. Yet when I ask him whether my pronunciation is correct, he says it is.
In my Latin mind, I thought "The accent (we say accent/acento/accento for "stress") not being on the regular syllabe, it (the accent) would be written".
I should have said: the stress not being on the regular syllabe, there would be a written accent on the "i" (hubíera)
Is my new sentence correct?

I hadn't thought about that.
I starting noticing how useful the Spanish system was when I started speaking Italian!

The first sentence is OK, although the second sentence is clearer. But I suppose what made me think that the first sentence wasn't finished was that there was no period at the end.
