So British rookie Lewis Hamilton swept to victory at the Hungarian Grand Prix, his rivals only trying to keep pace with him throughout the 70 laps. This is a wonderful result for the young talented prodigy in Lewis Hamilton, but the outcome has since been largely overshadowed by the bust-up between two times champion Alonso and his McClaren team-mate, Hamilton.

But let's not take away anything from the worthy pretender to the crown of Formula 1. Hamilton was a shade better than Kimi Raikonnen - but kudos to the Finn who gave Hamilton a helluva race.

Alonso also deserved credit for fighting from sixth to fourth. It's not easy to overtake at the Hungarian circuit and I thought the Spaniard showed grit and determination to overhaul his dismal start after being stripped of pole position in the qualifying.

For motorsport fans, I'd like to canvass your opinion on the Hamilton-Alonso dispute: do you honestly believe that Fernando Alonso would try a way to trigger his release clause in order to jump to say, Mercedes-Williams next season?

Personally, I would not be sorry to see the back of him. Don't get me wrong - I was once a great supporter of Alonso back when he was still at Renault. Unfortunately, he thought Judas Iscariot was worthy of emulation and jumped ship. Bereft of the star treatment which he was used to at the French team, he is obviously sulking now.

Respect is not given, but earned. In this token, I have never held Michael Schumacher in high regard as I deplore his ungallant tactics and his selfish determination in doing everything possible to win a race. Fernando Alonso should either shape up or ship out - he is earning the ire of all fans of motorsport.

And you now know why we watch Formula 1.
