"Fear and trembles came over me and darkness covered me. And I said: Who shall give me feathers like pidgeons, so I can fly away and find a place to rest."

The "Probatio pennae" (might be an Old English dialect)

What are we waiting for?"

8th century baptism document

"Gelooft gij in god de almachtige vader?"
"Do you believe in god, the almighty father?"

Don't know where I found this
"An âuont in an morgan in an mitdon dage tellon sal ic in kundon,
in he gehôron sal."

"’s avonds en ’s morgens en ’s middags zal ik vertellen en verkondigen,
en hij zal luisteren."
At night, at morning and in the afternoon shall I speak and proclaim, and he shall listen."

9th century
"Visc flot aftar themo uuatare."
"Een vis zwom in het water."
"A fish swam in the water."

A lot of those Dutch sentences were very similar to the English ones. The syntax was rather different, but I understood quite a bit of it even before reading the English translations.

"This community was noble and clean and so virtuous moreover"
Dis comunite was nobel and kleen and so virtuas morover.

"Vrees en beving kwamen over mij en duisternis bedekte mij
En ik zei: Wie zal mij veren geven als duiven, zodat ik weg zal vliegen en een rustplaats zal vinden."
"Fear and trembles came over me and darkness covered me. And I said: Who shall give me feathers like pidgeons, so I can fly away and find a place to rest."

Feer and trembels kam over me and darknes covered me. And I sed: Who shal giv me feders like pidgens, so I kan fly away and find a spot to rest.
