Alright...after reading some of these threads and finding out how ignorant so many people are, I made a really simple quiz about geography. As the creator, I can log in and see what sites people are discussing it on, and hopefully I won't see too many low scores.

93% But since when is Iran an Arab country? Last time I checked, they were mainly Persian.

And by the way, your first question would cause some grumbling on Antimoon. We all grew up with seven continents in the US, but our Latin buddies grew up with five -- counting North and South America as one (since they were technically connected until the Panama Canal was dug) and counting Eurasia as one, not two.

The question was which country isn't an Arab country. That's why the right answer is Iran.

So far the only referring URLs are all from here. Maybe in a few more days other people will find it.

A couple of those questions were inspired by some of the Geography threads I was reading here. One person said there are a lot of people who don't know how many continents there are, and that there are also many people in Texas who don't know what country is directly south of them! The thing about Iran was my idea because way too many people think that Iranians, Pakistanis, and Afghans are Arabs even though they most certainly are not.

I read the question correctly, and I DID put Iran -- and it said I was wrong! That's why I asked, "Since when is Iran an Arab country?"

Strange. I also put Iran and it said it was correct. You cannot be blamed for software errors. You scored 100%.

I've had similar problems with other quizzes on that site. And for the record, when I created the quiz, I did make Iran the correct answer for that question. I did the "select the correct answer" parts very slowly and carefully making sure I did not let my mind wander at any time. Because, once you create a quiz you can't ever change it.

100% - by the way, New Zealand should be listed as islands not island, there are two primary ones and a few surrounding islands owned by NZ.

Exactly. Iran is a Persian country.

And it's the only Persian country, I believe. Iran is an "Iranian" country, as is Afghanistan, and a few others. But Afghanistan and Tajikstan and the rest are not "Persian" countries, but they are "Iranian" or "Iranic". "Persian" is only one division of the Iranian peoples, and thus, "Iranian" and "Persian" are not always synonymous, and cannot always be used interchangeably.

93% here.

Yes, I don't know American states, but do Americans know what Russian region should they visit to see lake Baikal?

And I usually thought that there are 6 continents: Europe, Asia, America, Africa, Antarctide, Australia. So I was a bit confused when I couldn't find 6, so I decided that they mean South and North America as separate continents (yay, I was right!), but is it normal way of thinking that we have 7 continents in the West?

I always learnt that there were seven continents:

Europe
Asia
Africa
North America
South America
Australasia/Oceania
Antarctica

In Britain, 'Australia' usually refers only to the country, whilst we usually call the continent either 'Australasia' or 'Oceania'.

I only know that it's in southern Siberia; I couldn't tell you which oblast it's in. (Sorry, don't feel like opening up Word so I can get cyrillic characters.)

In Australia, 'Australia' usually refers to the continent and the country.
