I bought a flat capYou know, one of those old fashioned hats men used to wear back in the day. Some older men still wear it, and it's often associated with golfing. But just about nobody my age wears one of these things. I think they're really cool so I decided to buy one, and I wear it everywhere. People love it on me, and a lot of kids I know are now considering buying one of their own! So I guess I'm starting a new trend.....

Those caps are fairly common among guys here. I think it's considered a bit trendy to wear one.

I think it's quite trendy as long as it doesn't have the Burberry tartar-kilt design on it. Somehow, anything that screams Burberry becomes a bit too tacky for me.
And I used to like Burberry!

I first read 'flat cap' as 'cat flap', which I assumed for a while was some kind of hat worn in California a long time ago.
But actually, I think that it means this sort of hat:
I sometimes see very 'stylish' young men wearing hats like that.
But perhaps Porthos should post a picture of himself wearing it, and then he could use it for his avatar.

It could be something more like a Beret Basque ?
The stereotype want that all french people would wear it... actually the only people I've seen in Paris wearing it were American tourists ! maybe they wanted to pass for french ! It is about like wearing a kilt in Scotland...
