I got a car! I got a car!

I got a car! I saved up and bought it! Honda Accord, EX, V6 engine, with leather interior and automatic everything. Then I'm gonna pimp it out with a mega stereo and all those "ballah-ass" accessories! haha.

And now, I'm going to invest for my education. By then end of this month, I will have invested $1600 in my mutual funds. I'll need about $3,000 for my first two years of education at community college. So, I'll be able to pay for that myself. But then I'll need another $16,000 or so for my last two years at university, and more if I decide to pursue a masters.

Unfortunately, (and this is a big *unfortunately*), I won't have my license for another 6 months!

Congratulations! It's fun to drive (except in the inner city where I don't like to drive). I don't have a car but last Monday I'd borrowed my mother's car and I drove to work for the first time and I felt very adult.

That must suck ass grass for sure! Having your own car and not being allowed to drive it. How frustrating!

After spending so much money on modifications, wouldn't it have been better to buy a BMW instead?

Suppose he didn't want one.

Heck no. I love BMWs. But this is a used car, and the stereo system I plan on putting in will only set me back by about $500.

'Only' ... Do you really need it? Couldn't you just keep an old portable radio in the car or something?

Eek! No self-respecting red-blooded American male is ever satisfied with the piece of shit factory-issue sound system their car came with!

I bought a brand-spanking-new 2004 Hyundai in 2004, and it came with -- gasp -- a tape deck! Not a CD player in sight -- which was startling, to say the least, in such a new car, but I was actually cool with it, since I have all this killer tapes from my high school days in the 80's that I can't play anywhere else BUT in my car.

But what was really funny was when the original tape player broke (eating a tape), and I had to explain the problem to the dealer (my car is still under warranty and I was entitled to a free replacement). The woman kept "correcting" me -- "You mean your CD player's broken?" "No, my tape player." "So, you have a CD stuck in it, and you need it removed--" "No, I have a tape stuck in it, and it won't eject or play the radio." "I'm sorry, WHAT year is your car again?" "It's a 2004...."

By the end of that exchange -- and the woman clearly didn't believe me, even at the end of the call! -- I was feeling as low as if I'd admitted to having a vintage 8-track in that mother! But damn, she worked for the Hyundai dealership; you'd think she'd know what they come with!

Talking about cars, I was reading an article about how China seems to be practically the workshop of the world when it comes to the production of counterfeit cars. In fact, they have a saying in Shanghai that 'we can copy everything except your mother'.

A Honda CR-V becomes a Hongda SR-V and it can be purchased in the Chinese market for half the price of the real McCoy. Porthos, maybe you can consider illegally importing such a car. Unfortunately, I don't think there would be any warranty provisions for servicing.

"...we're Tigra and Bunny and we like the boom." I think I was 8 when that song came out.
