Hooray!!!! A 4-day weekend for me! :headbang: I'm heading to Catalina Island tomorrow for a mini-holiday. I'd been dreaming of an island excursion for quite some time now, and though it ain't no Hawaii or the Bahamas, it'll do for now. :roll:

Well, I'll be laboring. In the morning, no less (shudder!). The day unit secretary quit, and her replacement can't start until she gets replaced ( the pitfalls of hiring within...), so I get to fill in. Oh well, it's going to be for holiday pay, and I'm so happy the original bitch is finally gone that I'm willing to overlook the inconvenience (and slight cut in pay on the day shift)!

Thankfully, we were out of harm's way. I checked the weather reports before I left and Hurricane John was predicted to veer west into the Pacific before hitting the border. I think it ended up petering into a tropical depression that soaked El Paso, TX.
Catalina was a blast. Even though Avalon was super crowded with Labor Day vacationers, it was a weekend of non-stop partying, with everybody being so friendly and celebrating summer's last hurrah. I even got to parasail and snorkel. :D
