Langcafe is so dead!

WAHAHAHA
Elaine

I guess it is what you make it.
Patrix

You made your own contributions, too

Perhaps it's time to revive the forum?

Andre, Elaine, Patrix, Greg, KSa are surely alive.  That's good. I think it's a good starting point.
Uriel

I'm still here!  Hoping it picks back up again....miss the old days!
André in Zuid-Afrika

Great! It will go slowly, but I'm sure we can revive the forum!
Losseh

Today I got mail about reactivaiting the forum. Glad to hear such good news ;)

O, Losseh - miło Cię widzieć!
Loic

Hello there! I am also back - and I hope for good. I think that it is possible to resurrect it as long as we have a dedicated core of around 10 members who pop in on a frequent basis to have intimate and cozy tete-a-tetes about virtually anything which springs to mind.

I know it sounds rich coming from me as I have been absent for so long. I realised that visiting a forum is very much a habit that can be easily developed or lost. I do hope to inculcate such a habit again.

Hi Loic, nice to see you!
I think everyone needs such a period of "fasting" in terms of internet forums. That has done very good to me and I'll be glad to be active again.
bickerstonehall

I received a mail about reviving the forum so trying to make one or two posts each week.

Would be good if we had a Collects Corner where we could talk about Collecting Hobbies and offer exchanges,

Any Chance???
Uriel

Why not?  Try it.  What do you collect?
André in Zuid-Afrika

Hey, great to see you all back!
Uriel

Well, we didn't want to suffer the dreaded South African Wrath, dude!

Chocolate wrappers?

Let's see, things I have collected:

Plastic animals.  The weirder the better.  Okapis, pangolins, meerkats, Cape hunting dogs.  Safari makes the best ones.

Plastic mythical creatures.  i have a kickass rhino warrior on my desk at work.  And a minotaur, griffin, and some other fanciful critters.  I also have a small collection of dragons there as well, which a coworker seems to feel i SHOULD be collecting, because she keeps buying me more of them.  They appear mysteriously on my desk, at any rate.  Including a Christmas dragon dressed as Santa.

Breyer horses.  What can I say?  i can't afford the Peter Stone and North Light ones.  And it helps to have 3D models to draw from.

Coins.  I went on a little spree when I was in Europe right before the Euro got rolled out.  After all, it was the last time I was going to be able to get my hands on francs, marks, etc.  I keep around a few of the new US quarters, too -- but only from the states I like.  And I still have some yen and maybe a won or two from back when I was a kid.   I attribute this particular passion to the poker scene in The House With a Clock In Its Wall, a favorite book of mine from childhood.

Pets.  Just kidding!  I do have 5 dogs, 2 snakes, and a hamster.  But I'm doing better since I stopped working at that vet clinic!

Books.  Especially well-illustrated children's books.  Pity they don't illustrate adult reading more.  And I hate a boring cover.  i WILL judge a book by its cover.  And I hate it when they redesign different editions of the same book.

Just noticed that you lived in PE! Lovely place, except for the wind! I usually spend Christmas at Jeffreys Bay, which is close to PE.
bickerstonehall

Still have my house in Port Elizabeth.

Now rented monthly, but it is a little income towards my retirement and I would be happy to come back and live there again.

If I can find time to find the visa requirements for my Ukrainian wife, perhaps we would visit for a few months. That would be great!

You could make a lot of money renting out the house during the World Cup next year. PE is one of the cities hosting games. What did you do in South Africa?
bickerstonehall

The rental is from a couple of retired Brits, so can not kick them out for a few extra pennies at the time of the World Cup.

I worked for English Language radio in South Africa. Now I working in TV in Ukraine. I feature in a number of programmes on a Language Learning TV Chanel and also on a regular Chanel. Great fun. The shows are as a rule only ten minutes long both in Russian and English.

Anyone who wants a laugh, send me your email and I will send you one of the shows as a video attachment. Yes. The girl I present with is young and pretty, and I am not

Your house is a zoo! You'd better be good at cleaning.
Elaine

Uh, is that all you have to say??
Walker

I've got more coming right here:

hello!

Just stopping by to check things out.
Uriel

You better!  I've missed you, Walker!  Welcome back!
Uriel

And I suck at cleaning -- I have a cleaning disability -- downright domestically challenged -- but I used to have a maid.  Recently i have had to let her go -- can't justify spending $150 a month on having someone else pick up after me.  But I miss her, too......

We all have to grow up some day, right?

I bet you do!
Uriel

I just want you to know that right after that post I went and vacuumed the living room, steam-cleaned the carpet (it's a good thing I love my dogs more than I love that thing), went to the hardware store and finally bought -- and installed -- the light fixtures I've been meaning to replace for months, did a load of laundry, a load in the dishwasher, and made chicken noodle soup.  From an actual chicken.

How's that for guilt?!!!

I believe you!

Anyway, this forum seems pretty much muerte and I reckon it will stay that way.
Uriel

Sad, huh?  i miss the old days -- i was even thinking about Yann the other day!

Uriel
