Malmo and PragueToday I took a trip to Malmo and Prague, and on the way I drove through Venice. I am, of course, only talking about small rural towns in Nebraska. The pictures are here: http://xspace.awardspace.com |

 You had me there, I wasn't aware there was a Prague in the US! Have you ever read Bill Bryson's book about his travels through "small town America"?

I discovered not too long ago that nearly every major city in Europe has at least one, usually two or three towns in the USA named after it. Paris, Texas is probably the most famous. I've found out that there are a lot of small towns about 2 or 3 hours away from where I live that are named after more famous European cities. If you look at the website now, I've added pictures from Hamburg (Iowa). In May I hope to make it to Geneva, Belgrade, Genoa, and Cairo (all in Nebraska). I might be driving through Bern and Neuchatel (both in Kansas) even sooner.
And unfortunately I've never heard of the book but it sounds like Bill Bryson probably drove through places similar to where I've been. |

Yeh, we have some in SA as well named after European cities.
Some I can think of quickly: Parys (Paris) Frankfort (Frankfurt) East London Amsterdam Berlyn (Berlin) Belfast Newcastle Worcester Dundee Bethlehem |
