I just heard the sad news that American actor Peter Boyle died Tuesday. (Click here to read an obituary.)
I appreciated his acting in everything I saw him in, but I’ll always think of him as the Frankenstein monster in Mel Brooks’s Young Frankenstein (1974), shown here with Gene Wilder, making his public debut in Puttin’ On The Ritz, and here enjoying the hospitality of the poor blind man (Gene Hackman).

Ah, so I'm not the only one! I saw the article on the BBC News and immediately called work to give my condolences (and break the news) to one of my friends -- we've watched Young Frankenstein several times together; it's one of her favorite movies.
I will always remember the first role I saw him in, though -- as the crime boss in the hilarious Johnny Dangerously -- the scene where he misses a near-death experience with an exploding toilet and in his confusion mistakes the flush handle in his hand for a certain beloved piece of his anatomy!
