Santa BarbaraHad the most marvelous Labor Day weekend at Santa Barbara. Went on a wine-tasting tour through Santa Ynez wine country and while getting fabulously drunk, I found the place that I'm going to get married (well, a girl can dream can't she?)... at the picturesque Sunstone Winery estate! What do y'all think?
Of course, any place in Santa Barbara would be ideal. Such a lovely place!

I love Santa Barbara and I've never even been there!
The winery looks great, much better than, for instance, the Madonna Inn:
But if you can't book the winery and have to settle for the Madonna Inn, at least try to get the "Love Nest" room:
(I'm sure I've mentioned this place before in this forum -- it's my favorite place to make fun of!)

I think it would be a kick to book a romantic getaway at the Madonna Inn just so I could see the look on my bf face when we pull up into the driveway and come face to face with this explosion of pepto bismol pink:
And then we'll lounge in this cute little bar:
And dine in this romantic room:

Anyway, back to gorgeous things...
I was checking out the real estate market in and around $$$anta Barbara and I came across this exquisite chateau sitting on 68+ acres of fertile land in the Santa Ynez Valley.  So, Deborah, if you have $19.75 million to spare, this dream home can be yours!

Too late...I already bought the Madonna Inn. 
I actually had a couple of drinks in that little bar, but I drew the line at eating in the restaurant -- I was afraid the the quality of the food might be comparable.

Honey, none of the other rooms are any better.
This one is called "Lovebirds" but all I see is "eyesore".
This one's called "Romance", although romance would be the furthest thing from my mind if I stayed here.
Booking a romantic weekend in the "Anniversary" room, IMO, is gonna get you a quick D-I-V-O-R-C-E.
and the "Buffalo" room is listed as having "no airconditioning" as if that alone might keep guests away.
BTW, the Madonna Inn is in San Luis Obispo, not Santa Barbara.

Yes, Santa Barbara would never host such a repository of bad taste!
The Buffalo Room actually looks sort of like an apartment where I rented a room, many years ago. The landlady had furnished it and didn't allow any redecorating. There was no buffalo head on the wall; instead, she put that plastic carpet-protector stuff on all the living room furniture.

That sounds like the home of my early youth. For as along as I could remember, our house had vinyl carpet runners all over the living room and up and down the hallways. Then as soon as our brand new sofa and loveseat set arrived from Levitz, my mom slapped on those clear plastic sofa covers that made sitting on them very uncomfortable on hot days.

Well, our landlady didn't even use plastic sofa covers -- she just tacked strips of the plastic carpet runner protectors onto the sofa!
More treasures from that apartment -- the dining room table was formica and had a "set" of non-matching chrome-and-vinyl chairs...that is, none of the chairs matched each other or the table. The numerous tears in the vinyl were repaired with gaffer's tape.

OMG! I must've been 8 or 9 when the Cruz and Eden storyline was at it's apex. I don't remember the details of their love story but I remember it being very turbulent, involving infidelity, estrangement, murder, drug addiction, kidnapping, Eden's rape, Eden's paralysis, Eden being framed for her father's murder, Eden's "death", and eventually, Eden's multiple personality disorder.
Cruz and Eden were a big deal back then (at least in my circle) because Anglo-Hispanic relationships were very rarely portrayed on television in those days. Now, it's so common that those characters seem so trivial in hindsight.

Yes, of course. didn't you know that you country is very influencial in the rest of the world ? Especially in the eighties. I remember when I was a kid, there were only 3 channels in France at that time and 80% of the programs consisted of American series. the rest was japanese animations.

Shoot, I was just so thrilled that there was a character with my name! I got hooked on that stupid show because I accidentally tuned in on it the one week that actress was on vacation and wasn't ever on -- so of course I had to watch it every day until she came back on, just toi see what she looked like ... imagine my disappointment when she turned out to be a blonde!
