Songs you can't get out of your head!

The one I can't get out of my head now is called "On and On," appropriately enough. It's fairly cheesy soft rock from the 70s, by Stephen Bishop. It was the last thing I heard as I left the CVS Pharmacy this morning.

I'm contemplating setting the place on fire later tonight. Molotov cocktails, anyone?

Since I'm German I have to say that "Looking for Freedom" by sexy *cough* Hasselhoff is the catchy tune no one here will ever forget. And there will probably be no other merciless song that is able to undo this dreadful curse...
Uriel

I may never forgive Kylie Minogue for her little contribution to pop culture: "I just can't get you out of my head/ boy, this song is all I think about...."
Deborah

The Beach Boys' I Get Around. (I never mind getting Beach Boys songs stuck in my mind -- I just sing along with a different voice each time. )
Lazar

muhnuhmuhnuh! Doo doo, da-doodoo. muhnuhmuhnuh! Doo doodoo, doo. muhnuhmuhnuh! Doo doo, da-doodoo, da-doodoo, da-doodoo, da-dooda dooda doo doo doodoo doo.

Dude, if that has its intended effect on me, I swear I'm gonna... Ah, what a great show that was! And what a brilliant and evil post you wrote.

Since a few time I have this song of Emilie Simon in my head...

On the other hand she's also so charming...

It took me a minute to figure out what song that was (I don't dare open youtube on dial-up), but you're damn right, Lazar -- and I LOVE that song!

What that percussionist did with the piano was pretty cool!

For few days, I have a song in my head. Last week I went to the club and they broadcast it. For this time I can't get it out of my head. When I'm falling asleep, when I'm revising my exams, when I'm taking my shower I keep on singing it in my mind.

The singer is Christophe Willem. He's a winner of the French "American Idol". Fortunately I like his song, otherwise I would have turned mad! " alt="" border="0" />

Yesterday morning I saw a headline in a daily that said "Oops I did it again" and guess which song got stuck in my head. It was gone by noon, though.

This young lady showing way too much skin for a girl her age sat next to me on the bus this morning. Fergalicious was blaring from her iPod. So that's the song that's been stuck in my head all day.

The carpool driver had Kenny G's Songbird playing on her sound system. I don't know about you guys, but I have to sing a song repeatedly to get it out of my head. That doesn't work with saxophone modern jazz

I recently attended the Alumni Weekend where I went to college, the North Carolina School of the Arts. There was an all-school production of West Side Story that weekend, which I had to see, the movie having made such an impression on me when I was a kid. I'm really glad I saw it live, because that made it sort of new, and I was able to relive some of the excitement I felt at seeing it for the first time.

Anyway, now I've got the opening of the "Dance at the Gym" stuck in my head, partly because the staging was so great.
Uriel

Our unit secretary was asking me if I'd seen "Happy Feet" yet (I haven't), and launched into "Tell Me Something Good", which I could not stop humming the next hour. But that was okay -- good song!

After watching "Madagascar", I tortured our night charge nurse with "I Like To Move It, Move It" all night -- after she banned me from singing, humming, or even bouncing in my seat silently, I printed the lyrics off the internet and slipped them into her stuff -- she was deliciously livid! (And later burned me the soundtrack....)
Elaine

I woke up this morning singing "Parole parole parole parole parole parole..." and I've been singing it ever since. I can't for the life of me figure out why! I don't even know the lyrics except the chorus and "Caramel, bonbon et chocolat".

Italian version with Mina & Alberto Lupo:

French version with Dalida & Alain Delon (vocal only):

What a creepy song with that man just standing there talking like some crazy stalker.

Mina's reaction is exactly like mine whenever some crazy fool whispers sweet nothings in my ear.
Irrintzi

Inch'allah!
This song is so beautiful, I can't get out of my head!

This one too, it's very rythmic (Daft Punk):

This afternoon I went to my former English teacher's house. She organised a picnic with her current students and her former ones. We sang a song which became our "class anthem" last year. It's the Billy Joel's song "we didn't start the fire". Each time we sang it I had it for the rest of the day, and today isn't an exception!

Come sing with me "Harry Truman, Doris Day...."
Joanne

Last week, I went to a Blockbuster Video a few minutes before it closed for the night. One of the workers turned on the store sound system and played a dance remix of "Amazing" by George Michael. The kid was so nice, he downloaded it into my iPod. I had forgotten how catchy this tune is, especially this version, and I'm not even close to tiring of it yet.
Uriel

Call me a little behind the times, because I don't think they even exist anymore, but a friend just turned me on to Massive Attack, and I LOVE them!  Gotta love that low, hypnotic delivery style -- it's not really singing, per se -- that that one guy has.

I love Massive Attack, especially Mezzanine which got a lot of play on my CD player way back when.  Looking forward to their new album, I hear they're collaborating with Hope Sandoval.

A song I can't get out of my head since I heard it again on the Net. The melody is so catchy and they have so marvellous voices.

Me, too. Unfortunately, I don't know too many people who like this kind of music except for my parents.

I can say I don't care if a tune is in or not to like it. It doesn't disturb me to be considered old fashioned.    Do you like "Earth Wind & Fire" too ?
This is my favourite tune by them.

Of course I do! They are one of my favourite bands.

This is a good song, too, but it is played ad nauseam on the radio over here. However, it doesn't make me dislike it.

One of my favourite songs by them is this one:

It is practically never played anywhere in Hungary!

I like flamenco and can't stop listening to it even though I don't understand much Spanish at all    Where's my 12 step group?

Oh, Mezzanine is excellent.  And Hope Sandoval did a great collaboration with the Jesus and Mary Chain way back when (which sadly you can't find in any stores these days -- great guitar band!) -- she'd be great with Massive Attack.  And I KNEW that singer on Teardrop was the chick from Cocteau Twins -- I think someone owes me dinner!

Props for bringing up the Jesus and Mary Chain! I listened to Munki a lot in the summer of '98 (I had just graduated from high school and went wild with abandon to celebrate-- ah, memories!).

Hope Sandoval sang on 2 JaMC songs-- "Sometimes Always" and "Perfume". Loved Mazzy Star!

All these youtube links!  It's a shame I can't view them now.
Uriel

Oh yeah?  I only knew Sometimes Always (excellent song, by the way!)

Damn! That kind of singing comes from way down deep in the soul.

Here's 2 of my favorite Romani flamenco acts:

Getting back to the topic of this thread, I can't seem to get Jeff Buckley's version of "Hallelujah" out of my head.

Tekameli is great!  Thanks for posting Julian

What do you think of this band ? Aren't they cute ?   It's a quite catchy song.

They are handsome things, but I'm not wild about the boy-band pop tune.  The guy with the rock-hard abs is hot but annoying.  He's one step away from  Chippendales.
Elaine

Okay, most annoyingly overplayed yet catchy tune since "Umbrella, ella ella eh eh..."

(M.I.A. - "Paper Planes")

Tavares - One Step Away

Hall and Oates - Love TKO (I prefer their version to the original Teddy Pendergrass song - but that isn't bad, either   )

Ali Ollie Woodson - Drama In The Bedroom
