What's your location in your local lingo?I suggest a turn away from various petty fights and a return to linguistics: How do you pronounce your location (village, town, city, region and or country) in the local lingo(s)?
To consult the appropriate IPA symbols, see:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Phonetic_Alphabet
You will of course find more detailled information in the articles on the language in question.
So: [wɒts jɔ:ɹ loʊ'keɪʃən ɪn ðə 'loʊkl ˈlɪŋɡəʊ]?

I live in the city of Bergen:
In normal southwest Norwegian Bergen is: ['bɛχgṇ]
In very broad local dialect: ['bæ:ʁgɛn]
In the province of Hordaland: [ˇhoχda'lan]
In the country of:
Norge (Bokmål name): [ˇnoχgə]
Noreg (Nynorsk name): [ˇno:ʁeg]
In Skandinavia: [ˌskandi:'na:vɪa]
In the Nordic countries, Norden: ['nuχdṇ]
On the continent of Europa: [æʉ'ʁu:pa]
On the Earth, Jorda: ['ju:ʁa]
In the World, Verden: ['ʋɛχdṇ]
BTW [ˇ] is the Norwegian toneme 2, i.e. approximately stress on both following syllables.
[χ] is the unvoiced uvular r.

On mine too, it turned out. Apparently you can't use IPA in head lines. So I changed it.

I can't IPA (or even see it on my screen), but I live in Las Cruces, which is pronounced either in the English manner (American variety): Las CROOsess, or in the Spanish manner, in which you flip the R. Also nicknamed "The City of the Crosses".
In lieu of a transcription, here's a recording of an actual native Las Crucen on a dialect comparison site (yes! what are the odds of finding one!):
http://accent.gmu.edu/browse_lang...function=detail&speakerid=631
He doesn't actually say "Las Cruces", but you get the gist of what we sound like.

LOL, now the problem is me, I can't access the sound, although I can see the page!
BTW you just need to download and/or upgrade to Explorer 7.0 or Firefox if you want to see the IPA symbols. I got such a kick out of finally being able to IPA!

Worcester is pronounced [ˈwʊstɚ] by rhotic people like me, but if you have a non-rhotic Worcester accent, then it's [ˈwʊstə].
