hi deborah
There must be some mistakes and not accurate tranlsations, or the game would be very boring. It's absolutly *not* a test!!! I hope that there will be many inaccuracies
hi everyone
Unfortunatly there are few people We need more people so we would get several versions of the original text
I don't know the best thing - maybe to send the text in a PM to the other people to ask them to translate into a language we know that they know e.g. Daniel --> Scots, André --> afrikaans etc...Those people didn't wriet their names on this list, so I don't know if this is acceptable to do. we have put them into the list.
It seems Fredrik is disappeared from the forum, so we must take his name from the list.
hi Benjamin & Harrenys
you speak *very* useful combinations of languages, so you will translate two times. Please make sure that you forget the text & translate the 2nd time what you read on the text you wil receive the 2nd time without to look /remember the 1st text LOL!!
The only possibiity to include Llatai, is when teh game will end in Welsh. It would be great to find someone who can translate welsh, scots & english as then it can go: (Llatai --> )Welsh --> Scots --> English.
New list
Lazar English --> Portuguese
Harrenys Portuguese --> Dutch
Liz Dutch --> German
Benjamin German --> Spanish
Kornelia Spanish --> Polish
KsA Polish --> English
Greg English --> French
Fab French --> Spanish
Deborah Spanish --> English
Harrenys English --> Danish
Walker Danish --> English
André English --> Afrikaans
Benjamin Afrikaans --> French
Loic French --> English
Llatai English --> Welsh

Great We will wait about 2 more days then we will make the final list. If another person can translate from scots --> another language it would be helpful, and also soemone from welsh. |

PAAAAAUUUUULIIIIINEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh my Goodness!!!!!! I'm in the soup up to the neck, like Brennus.
I can't translate form Dutch...or I might try but my German is lousy! I would prefer the previous role!!!!!!!!!!!
I might try translating from Dutch...but into German???? Poor someone being followed by me! My Dutch is strictly receptive...my productive skills are less than nought, converging into minus infinite. Imagine me translating with such an "impressive" knowledge into my lousy German (making only one mistake in each sentence is a great achievement on my part)!!!!
I'm bitterly dissapointed.
PS: I'm just being tongue-in-cheek, but I'm really and truly frightened! _________________ Az alvástól megéhezem. Az evéstől elálmosodom. Az élet szép.

Oh...I see...My translation will go the Benjamin. Poor guy...
PS: Not that my English isn't lousy, but there is a scale of lousiness, and my English is without a doubt closer to the "acceptable" end than my German or, let alone, my Dutch. Besides, if we can't include Hungarian as I'm the only person around who speaks the language, it is English, in which I have fluency closest to my native language, so pairing Dutch with German in my case is doomed to complete fiasco. But why not?
Anyway, my Hungarian isn't the best conceiveable, either. Funnily enough, I always get very good marks for my Hungarian to English translations and somewhat worse marks for my English to Hungarian translations. I haven't got the foggiest why this is so. I have always been positive that I *do* speak and write Hungarian well, but now I'm preparing to throw the last vestiges of my self-esteem into the rubbish bin. _________________ Az alvástól megéhezem. This Broken Translation Game is started: I've sent the English text in a PM to Lazar. He will trasnlate it into Portuguese & send it in a PM to me and to Harrenys.
Lazar !!! You've a PM
After Lazar will finish, I will put his name in another colour on the list, so everyone will see to where the translation is progrssed. |

Hi Liz,
It's no problem at all. Lazar has translatde and sent it to Harrenys!! So, he was incredible quickly, but there will be some people who havn't time, don't visit etc so there will be for example some days between. There's no stress, time limit etc.. Maybe it will finish at Christmas
Anyway, probably next week i will go to school, so during the days it won't be possible to check as much as I've this week, but i will check every day. If I wouldn't be able to during this game then my brother will make the updates (he helpd me make the list etc.. and find it very fun) but probably I will arrange all the things.
Harrenys you have a PM from Lazar!!!
Update:
Lazar English --> Portuguese
----->Harrenys Portuguese --> Dutch
Liz Dutch --> German
Benjamin German --> Spanish
Kornelia Spanish --> Polish
KsA Polish --> English
Greg English --> French
Fab French --> Spanish
Deborah Spanish --> English
Harrenys English --> Danish
Walker Danish --> English
André English --> Afrikaans
Benjamin Afrikaans --> French
Loic French --> English
Llatai English --> Welsh
****Harrenys has the text**** since 8th June |

Well, there would be a lot more than just some mistakes if I had to translate into even my best language, which is Spanish. So thanks ever so much for changing my part in this! |

Lucky you, Deborah...I have to translate from my worst language into my second worst language!!!! Aaaarghhh!!!!! I preferred the previous "I have to translate from German into English" version (if Hungarian isn't included
). At least I can guarantee some inaccuracies -- it's gonna be exciting!
I sort of envy those who have to translate into English regardless of the fact that it isn't my native language. _________________ Az alvástól megéhezem. Az evéstől elálmosodom. Az élet szép. |

Well, I have to translate from a language that I only really have oral knowledge of (German) into a language that I can read fairly well but find difficult to produce myself (Spanish).
And then I have to translate from a language which I don't really know at all (Afrikaans — I listed that as a worst scenario to try to give as many options as possible) into my best non-native language (French).
Oh dear... |

Poor you (Benjamin) -- two translations!!!
Then my Dutch is halfway between your Afrikaans and your Spanish, I presume. _________________ Az alvástól megéhezem. Az evéstől elálmosodom. Az élet szép. |

| I think I'll have to read what's written in German and Afrikaans out loud — that usually makes it easier for me to understand them. I'll probably have to translate them both into English first anyway, because I'm not sure if I can 'transcribe' German and Afrikaans directly into Spanish and French. |

Since you are living in Germany, I assume that means you can get along in German. That would automatically make you better in your "second worst" language than I am in my "best" language (which should really be "second best", since English is my best). |

Well, I can get along with it but I make lots of grammatical mistakes. (Anyway, just a few months and I'm coming back home! ) _________________ Az alvástól megéhezem. Az evéstől elálmosodom. Az élet szép. |
