I first saw these on MadTV probably 15 years ago and I thought they were hysterical... in a sad sort of way. They're parodies of Schoolhouse Rock!, which, to the uninitiated, were a series of educational animated shorts originally broadcast on American television (ABC) in the '70s and mid-80s. These parodies, however, tackle more controversial issues affecting modern American culture.

Sander,
Surely, that first commercial didn't air on public television, did it?? That one was too funny. I guess if I understood Dutch I'd have appreciated the second one better.
Here are few other favorites of mine (courtesy of YouTube-- thank god for YouTube!):
These ones are also from MadTV. Lida & Melina are stupid skits about 2 cholas, but the reason I find them hysterical is b/c my chola cousin, Amalia looks and acts exactly like Lida (the blondie) that I'm convinced the creators must've known her:
Rowan Atkinson is excellent, and who doesn't love Monty Python! _________________ Toe ek jonk was, het ek al die antwoorde geken. Nou verstaan ek nie eens die vrae nie.

I thought Learn English, Public Schoolhouse Rock and Monty Python were the best. Pablo Francisco was pretty good, too. But I've seen very little of Rowan Atkinson's work that I like.

Rowan Atkinson as Mr. Bean I hate! But The Thin Blue Line was excellent.
Loved that Saturday Night Live clip! (Great show, btw) _________________ Toe ek jonk was, het ek al die antwoorde geken. Nou verstaan ek nie eens die vrae nie.

Haven't seen The Thin Blue Line, but I feel the same about Mr. Bean. I like him best when he's being snide and sarcastic, as in Blackadder (especially Blackadder II). I liked him in a few sketches in Not The Nine O'Clock News, too. I rented the DVD recently, and found that the format (laugh track, some Laugh-In influence) was sorta unbearable, but some of the stuff was still pretty funny.
You'll love The Thin Blue Line, British humour at it's best! Love Blackadder too. _________________ Toe ek jonk was, het ek al die antwoorde geken. Nou verstaan ek nie eens die vrae nie.
