I propose a new game :

I had observed that we tend to have representation of places that does not fit allways with the reality. For exemple, we do not always "see" the cities at the latitude they are.

This game consists of two lists of European cities (1. and 2.). To each city of the first list corespond a city of the second which is situated at the same latitude (about 40km maximum of difference).
could you associate each one with its equivalent ? (without of course watching a map!)

first list: Milan, Istambul, Berlin, Athens, Marseille, Toulouse, Bucarest, Moscow, London, Paris, Praha, Oslo, Madrid, Rome, liverpool, bordeaux,

second list : Stutgart, Lyon, Ajaccio, Barcelone, Cordoba, Bilbao, Firenze, Glasgow, Dortmund, Frankfort, Birmingham, Helsinki, Napoli, Hamburg, Genova, Bologna

No more players ?

most of the answers you three gave were good answers !!

Oslo/helsinki
Hamburg /Liverpool
London / Dortmund
Glasgow /Moscow
Cordoba/Athens
Istanbul — Barcelona
Berlin — Birmingham
Madrid — Naples (Napoli)
Rome — Ajaccio
Liverpool — Hamburg
Bordeaux — Genova
Prague: Frankfurt

but some mistakes

Quote:
Milan: Bilbao

mistake made twice. Bilbao seemed to be though at the same level than Milano, while in reality milano is quite much northern than Bilbao: 250km, which is at European scale quite important (about like between northern and southern England)
I think most people inconciently assume that North Italy and North Spain lie at same latitudes.
Milan is in fact about (25km) at the same level than Lyon or Clermont-Ferrand in Central France.

Bilbao is at the latitude of Marseille, which would correspond to central Italy, about Sienna, Tuscany.

Quote:
Marseille/bologna

Quote:
Marseille: Florence

Marseille is about 130km more southern than Bologna.
but closer to Florence, at about 70 more southern than Firenze (I thought they were at same level before).

Quote:
Toulouse: Bologna

quite close answer, but Toulouse is 100km more southern than Bologna
Bologna is at the latitude of Bucharest, Romania, and Toulouse lies at the level of Florence in central Italia.

Quote:
Bucharest: Lyon

not easy one... Bucharest is in fact 140km more southern than Lyon, at about the level of Bologna or Genova, while Lyon is at the level of Milan.

Quote:
Paris — Frankfurt

Frankfort, at the limit between southern and central Germany is 160km more northern than Paris. It lies at the level of Prague, or Belgium.
Paris on its side is situated at about the same latitude than Stuttgart, in southern Germany, at about 60km north of vienna's latitude.

Quote:
Prague — Stuttgart

Prague is quite much more northern than Stuttgart, about 150km. Prague is about at the latitude of Frankfort and Stuttgart is at the latutude of Paris.
