Suddenly I can read and post IPA symbols on Langcafé! Is that because I just installed Windows Internet Explorer 7?

Hmm, so you guys have been able to read and write IPA on the net all the time? I thought it had been impossible and that was why X-Sampa was developed. _________________ Wer fremde Sprachen nicht kennt, weiß nichts von seiner eigenen. = Those who don't know foreign languages, know nothing of their own. probably. but I've never really noticed the lack of IPA, so it could be due to your encoding settings. either way, you should get firefox.
Yes, like Fredrik, I was unable to read IPA symbols on my earlier editions of Internet Explorer. (In order to read and write IPA symbols, I had to copy-and-paste them from and into Microsoft Word.) But as soon as I got IE7, I discovered that all of the IPA symbols were visible!

Hmm...trust IE to be backdated like that. I guess that's a reaction to the threat that has emerged from the popularity of Firefox - IE6 was so awful that they finally got their asses in gear and put together a semi-reasonable browser to compete against Firefox. Of course, Microsoft still doesn't care about making IE7 compatible with current internet standards - seeing as they have such a large market share, they don't really consider that kind of thing, as the majority of their users aren't aware of any internet standards that exist beyond what is supported on IE. Meaning that web developers have to use special hacks just to get their sites to work in IE.
Don't take it the wrong way, Shouga, but it is rather sexy to hear a girl being so eloquent about information technology. _________________ Hillary Clinton is an acquired taste which I have clearly yet to acquire.
Hm, we have Firefox at university, but it's not my favourite.
Regarding loic's statement:
It's much healthier to discover "wow, she has a body too" instead of "wow, she's got a brain too", according to a Norwegian poet. _________________ Wer fremde Sprachen nicht kennt, weiß nichts von seiner eigenen. = Those who don't know foreign languages, know nothing of their own. ...It is? I didn't realise that guys found that kind of thing sexy, lol!
It is! I also find intelligent girls attractive.
I also changed to Firefox not only because I couldn't read IPA. Firefox also enabled me to see some websites better and play some of those weird Browser internet games.
