My approach to this phenomenon is very skeptical and rational but one can't deny that there are many well-documented reports of the mysterious healings of people, even in the terminal stages of the diseases, that happened after visiting sacred places all over the world.
I can say that my in-depth interest of some of these cases didn't lead me to any consistent conclusions i.e. although some cases have been falsified there have been some the reliability of which I'm certain. I can't however say that some super natural force interfered in these cases albeit can't exclude it for sure. I'm sure however that we still know very little about biology of humans and interactions between psyche and soma.
There is one thing I'm definetely sure: if anyone thinks that a visit to the sacred place can help in any way one should do it but only in addition to the traditional therapy and not instead.
Have you known of any such cases you can't explain?

If someone can explain it on a scientific basis, we will move this thread from "Religion" to "General" forum ;-P

I can't think of any specific examples nor have I been an eye-witness to any of them. Nevertheless, I have heard of well-documented miracles from secondary sources about miraculous healings and how doctors have (yet) to prove or to disprove them.

Even the Roman Catholic hierarchy is sceptical about many of these so-called miracles nowadays. Any miracle must be rigorously inspected to discount any known scientific possibility before it can be declared to have happened through divine grace.

In my opinion, the question of miracles is a highly contentious one. The sceptics would never be converted unless they've personally experienced one while the hardcore believers would ardently argue for its existence even if evidence points otherwise. It's one of those issues where you either believe it - or you don't.
